Asset Type Assignments

Post by jacques.tege » June 27th, 2019, 5:18 pm

Hello,
Is there a way to assign ASSET entities a type? This could allow us to distinguish between processes associated with CG Assets, Comp Assets and Editorial Assets and treat each one differently on our job servers. If not, could TAGGING and ASSET with a Keyword accomplish the same result? if so, how?

Thanks for any help with this,
JT

To answer my own question, Custom Fields using a drop-down menu can allow for a "Type" attribute assignment.
It would be really helpful if there was a way to use variables in simple expressions in the job structure schema so that assets of different types can be assigned unique folder structures. Is there a way this can be done?

Hi,

Using custom fields are the correct way to go about this. Additionally you can use these or organize your assets into folders of types using the variables in the project structure. Here is a link to the documentation explaining how to use these variable inline to do exactly what you are trying.
